Hello, Zalan. I’m excited to have you on board to help us with our video content. Here’s an overview of what we’re looking for and what you need to prioritize to be a successful editor for our podcast:
Current Content Cadence
- Episode Release: Every two weeks.
- Current Clips Release: 3 clips from episodes over the two week period of each episode release (with desire to increase this number with your arrival).
Onboarding and Iteration
- Expect the first couple of weeks of your journey to be an on-ramp period. We may iterate a few times to refine your editing style and find the best format that works for us.
- We have another video editor we’ve been working with that we will phase out and turn into a backup editor; but you will be our main video editor.
Priorities for Editing
- Clips from Episodes
- Aim for 3-5 clips per episode.
- Gary will recommend at least 3. But encourages you to watch the whole episode and find others.
- Focus on creating tight, engaging 1-2 minute clips.
- Include tasteful B-roll, such as screenshots, screen recordings, and relevant visuals.
- Use gold text and visual elements to emphasize the Gilded Age theme.
- Cut out pauses, ums, and other filler to keep the clips concise.
- Add non-copyrighted music to enhance the clips.
- End clips with an outro clip that points to the episode name and includes a picture of the interviewee (Guild graphic designer Sito creates these).
- Examples:
- Custom Intro for Full Episodes
- Create an engaging intro that builds excitement for the rest of the episode.
- This intro features lines from the clips.
- Use the attached examples as inspiration.
